February CLP Meeting

At our second online CLP meeting it was great that 20 people braved the cruel winter weather to join together on Zoom.

At our second online CLP meeting it was great that 20 people braved the cruel winter weather to join together on Zoom.

It was particularly exciting to welcome three new faces and hear their stories.

We focussed on the Cornwall Council and Town and Parish elections in May.
Our new Campaign Coordinator, Pat Hammond, outlined the mountain we have to climb and the new digital skills we are all going to have to learn.

We all agreed that money was our biggest challenge. The Tories are outspending us 4:1 and haven’t got out of first gear yet.

So – Money.
Give what you can, raise what you can and do what you can to help Labour win here in May.

If everyone in our CLP gave just £2 that alone would be nearly £1500.

We’re really pleased to announce that we have elected a new Youth Officer … congratulations to Kit Renshaw.

We voted to call a special meeting on Wednesday 17th February at 7:00pm. You will already have received your invitation.

We would love to see you all at the next all member CLP meeting in March.
If the elections do go ahead this will be our last meeting until June.

I encourage members to attend our zoom meetings-no parking problems and you’re home early.
Come and see our candidates and officers in action and speak if you want and vote occasionally on motions. Feel involved.
Could admin give an option to post relevant photos?

Here is an inspiring quote from our 2019 Labour Manifesto
‘Over 125,000 children are now living in temporary accommodation, without a home to call their own-or the space they need to thrive. Labour will tackle the root causes of rising homelessness with more affordable homes and stronger rights for renters.’
We really need votes in May to get local councillors who are thinking like that and can make a real difference in Cornwall.
