Nicole Broadhurst, Labour Mayor of Penzance, says:
Thank you so much for all the support you have offered over this difficult time.
It’s been a huge help and I really appreciate it.
I’ve had warm and positive messages from all over the world, as far away as Montana in the US, Switzerland, Concarneau (our twin town in Brittany) and from across the country and the political spectrum here at home.
Alongside the support I have had lots of practical offers of help and some great suggestions as to how we move forward now.
The thugs and bullies thought they could intimidate me into silence as they try to do all the time, particularly to women.
I will not be quiet and I am not going away.
Together we can fight back against those who shout and squeal to get their own way.
Decent people from all of our communities have stepped up to say that they will no longer be silent.
Together we will show them that this is our Cornwall too and this is our home.
